EESTech Challenge Local Round 2022

EESTech Challenge is a hackathon, namely a sprint-programming event, organized by EESTEC. This year marks the 6th year of the event, and the 4th consecutive year that LC Thessaloniki organizes a local round. EESTech Challenge aims to create opportunities for European students to gain knowledge in the field of EECS and develop their professional network. The technological topic of the competition for 2022 is “Machine Learning Applications”.

Machine Learning is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) and computer science which focuses on the use of data and algorithms to imitate the way that humans learn, gradually improving its accuracy. It covers a variety of applications, ranging from everyday practices, such as search engine suggestions and spam mail detection, to more nuanced branches, like that of database mining and autonomous driving. Machine learning is growing in importance due to increasingly enormous volumes and variety of data, the access and affordability of computational power, and the availability of high speed Internet. It is becoming more ubiquitous every day and will soon be integrated into many facets of human life.

Our local event, EESTech Challenge Thessaloniki, will be hosted on the 9th and 10th of April. The first day of the event will focus on academic lectures regarding Machine Learning, whereas on the second day, our Local Round of the competition will be held in the form of a hackathon, where our participants will be split into teams competing against each other. The winners will participate in the Final Round which will take place in Milan this year.
