Soft Skills Academy (SSA) is a series of interactive trainings focused on enhancing the “Soft Skills” of students from all faculties of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and University of Macedonia. “Soft Skills” are  personal attributes and personality traits needed for success in every profession nowadays. These include interpersonal skills such as Communication Skills, Time Management, Listening Skills and Empathy, amongst others.

Specifically, the SSA project was first established in Thessaloniki back in 2017, where we gave the opportunity to students to attend trainings focused on Leadership and Self-Improvement. The trainings were delivered by high-qualified certified trainers from EESTEC Training Team. This event had a non profit character and was organised by EESTEC LC Thessaloniki, under the aid of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The heartwarming feedback and the comments of the participants lead us to organise our second Soft Skills Academy in 2019. That year we provided an opportunity to all ambitious students to attend trainings focused on Time Management, Stress Management, Goal Setting and Communication Skills.

WiBoM

It was Sunday 3rd of March, evening, when everything started, with almost 20 crazy people, around a long table, talking and waiting for our last participant. Wibom, Winter Board Meeting is mainly an operational event and differs a lot from what we had already experienced. Although that, from our perspective, it was an amazing event for different reasons than others and a really good opportunity to meet our Board and come closer with some of the most experienced and motivated members of our organisation. We had the luck to accept 4 of them, Elvis, Paula, Philipp and Ana with 4 extra leaders from Athens, Thessaloniki, Zurich and Xanthi’s LC, spending a wonderful week together. Even if there was a lot of work and stress from the part of the participant as organisers we tried being flexible to create a restful atmosphere with a lot of relaxing and funny moments. We had an unforgettable Costume Party with the most remarkable costumes, an international Night and a few nights out full of conversations and laughs. We walked around our beautiful City, sightseeing and spend some lunchtime under the surprisingly (for March) warm rays of sunshine. As organisers, we tried to give them the best experience of Greek hospitality and culture, cooking them homemade food, hosting them with us in our apartments and generally by constantly trying to make them feel like home. We had a great week together and created a strong relationship with our participants. We hope this event will be proved highly effective for our EESTEC future and we believe that this event accomplished to light the spark of the EESTEC spirit inside our new members of the organising team as much as make it stronger for our Board.
